Deopani Durga Mandir ligt in Nambar Habi (woud) en is een van de beroemde Durga Mata-tempel in Upper Assam.
Het staat bekend om zijn wensvervullende bevoegdheden van Maa Durga, waar de toegewijden op bezoek komen en een rode draad binden / lint voor hun wensvervulling en zodra hun wens is vervuld en ingewilligd, ze bezoeken de tempel opnieuw en maken de draad/lint los/los.
De tempel is erg populair en honderden toegewijden bezoeken de plaats elke dag.

Hoe Deopani te bezoeken
Deopani Durga Maa Mandir ligt in de wijk Karbi Anglong van Assam. Het dichtstbijzijnde treinstation is Barpathar. Als je op internet zoekt, people will suggest you get off to Barpathar Railway station and visit the mandir.
However to my experience I found that if you visit “Furkating Junction” you have a higher chance to get a taxi/cab at a very good rate and the area is also very friendly.
Golaghat is a major town of upper Assam and is just 7 kms away from Furkating Junction. Golaghat has every facility to accommodate a traveler.
The best thing about getting down at Furkating Junction is that major trains make their stops and if you have enough time in your hand then you can also visit Kaziranga Nationaal park.
Visiting Deopani from Golaghat / Furkating Junction
So once you get to Golaghat, Book a private cab to Deopani for a whole Day. The price of booking a cab keep changing, so I will not include the price here.
Do ask other cab drivers for the rate and negotiate the rate.
Since the Deopani Durga Mandir is not on the main road and the road passes through one of the Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s better to visit during the daytime and visiting it in a cab.
It will take around 1 hour or less depending on the road condition to get to Deopani from Golaghat and while traveling if you are lucky, you can see wild elephants crossing the road in the Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary.
Hoe ver is het en hoe handig
Opmerking: Do not get confused with “Deopani” & “Deopani Durga Mandir“. Both are 2 different locations and way too far from each other.
The road conditions were not too good, there was construction and repairing works going on, when I visited Deopani Durga Mandir.
Its around 45 km's en het vervoeren ervan in een privéauto of een gehuurde taxi is de beste manier om te reizen.
Hoewel reizen vanuit Barpathar het dichtstbijzijnde is, maar waarom ik Golaghat heb aanbevolen, heeft een reden.
Tijdens het reizen vanuit Golaghat heb je dat wel 3 andere exotische locaties om te verkennen en tijd door te brengen. die de moeite waard zal zijn om uit te geven. Meer details worden hieronder gedeeld – Wat je kunt verwachten te zien & ontdekken.
Wat je kunt verwachten te zien & ontdekken
Om over de Deopani Durga Mandir te spreken, je hebt niet veel keus om daar te verkennen of te zien. De reden dat mensen het bezoeken is om Puja aan de Godin aan te bieden en de zegen te krijgen om hun wensen te vervullen.
Mensen bezoeken hun werkschip en binden een rood lint aan de enorme banyanboom in het tempelgebouw.
Ook om op te merken, Het kan zijn dat je verschillende mensen tegenkomt die dieren offeren, meestal geiten. which may be disturbing for some people but it’s done in another room. So you can’t see it easily.
While offering your workship don’t forget to mention your name to the brahmin / pujari of the temple. There is a second brahmin / pujari who recites some mantra including your name for blessings.
You can buy all the puja samagris / materials from the shop just outside the Temple’s gate. They provide you to carry your prasad and other materials in a basket. You get the basked for free but you need to return it after you complete your workship.

While returning back from Deopani Durga Mandir, you can make a stop at Gamarpani – Natural Hot water Spring
Het is een prachtige plek gelegen tussen het Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary. Het beschikt over een natuurlijke warmwaterbron en een prachtige rivier met een park. Maar de plaats is van alle kanten omgeven door bos.
Wat de lucht fris en verfrissend maakt.
Als je een extra dag hebt, dan kun je het Kaziranga National Park bezoeken, dat is verbijsterend.
Dit zijn dus de voordelen van een verblijf in Golaghat, als je deze plaatsen wilt bezoeken.
